PANTOMIME, STAGE MOVEMENT & IMPROVISATIONAL COMEDY

If you have ever watched a silent movie by Charlie Chapman or Buster Keaton, or seen the great mime, Marcel Marceau, you know that mime is a language the whole world understands. This series of workshops plus a final performance will introduce the basic techniques of classic pantomime, physical acting, and stage movement. We will explore non-verbal storytelling, building a character and creative improvisation. In mime, we will develop the use of our hands, human and animal movements, creation of imaginary objects, tension and relaxation, our “center” and the periphery, the illusions of pushing and pulling, and “making” a wall. All aspects of the course emphasize personal creativity and expression.
