PRESS RELEASE

"Art vs. Life" Post-Play Panel Discussion at Stamford Theatre Works

Stamford Theatre Works will present a post-play panel discussion on Tuesday, April 29, at 8:30 p.m., following the 7 p.m. performance of "An Infinite Ache," a romantic comedy/drama directed by Steve Karp, STW founder and producing director. Speakers will be Mark Banschick, M.D., and  Karp.

The talk is part of STW's program, "Art vs. Life, a Deeper Look," in which experts discuss the play with the audience and provide insight on the issues.  Moderator is Norine Krasnogor, former STW Board Member and Stamford attorney

Mark Banschick, M.D., is a child and adolescent psychiatrist in full-time private practice in Katonah, NY.  He is a graduate of Georgetown University Hospital in general psychiatry and New York Hospital/Cornell Weil Medical Center in child and adolescent psychiatry.  He is an adjunct professor at Hebrew Union College where he teaches in the doctor of ministry program. He is published in the fields of child development, adolescence and spirituality, kids in cyberspace and integrative medicine.

Dr. Banschick has been interested in the natural dynamics of marital life, after serving as an expert witness in court for custody matters.  He is working on a series of essays called “The Baby Bomb” which deal with the impact of children on marriage – both for good and for bad.  Presently, he is finishing a book entitled “The Intelligent Divorce” which is modeled after a course by the same name.  Dr. Banschick has appeared on radio and on national television.

Steve Karp has spent nearly 40 years in professional theatre as actor, director, playwright, filmmaker and theatre producer.

"An Infinite Ache" by David Schulner is the story of Hope and Charles, a pair of lonely twenty-somethings, who are about to end a supremely uninteresting first date when the myriad possibilities of their futures together come rushing to meet them.

Performances Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m.; matinees Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.; first Sunday and first Tuesday at 7 p.m. Tickets $25 to $43.  Stamford Theatre Works, 200 Strawberry Hill Ave. (campus of Sacred Heart Academy), Stamford.  www.stamfordtheatreworks.org   Box Office: (203) 359-4414.
